Rinaldo Invernizzi

Nebbia e vanitas. Visioni del Duomo di Milano

(Fog and Vanitas: Visions of the Duomo di Milano)

Galleria Rubin, Milan (IT), 11 Feb. – 7 March 2026

Rinaldo Invernizzi presents a visionary picture cycle dedicated to Milan’s Duomo, transforming the iconic cathedral into a meditation on fragility, permanence and transformation.

Through delicate works that oscillate between figuration and abstraction, Invernizzi reveals the Duomo as both architectural monument and symbolic organism –wounded yet resilient, enveloped in fog, pierced by light and reimagined through the elements of fire, water, earth and air. His haunting nocturnes and explosive chromatic visions on paper capture not only the ‘Grande Madre’ of Milan but also the cathedral’s complex journey from medieval origins to the present, reflecting its European cultural resonance and contested legacy.

The cycle addresses the Duomo’s architectural magnificence and the spiritual questions it embodies. The picture cycle represents a unique opportunity to experience the cathedral through Invernizzi’s contemplative expression and to perceive its sacred presence in a universal perspective, exploring the vulnerability of our world and asking whether sacred spaces can still offer refuge in times of crisis.
